3 /5 Mark Lidstone: Three lots of cheesy chips and one lot of regular chips came to over £20 and took nearly 15 minutes.
The chips were fine, single portions are pretty reasonably sized, and they werent skimpy with the chese either (even melting the cheese over the chips rather than just leaving it unmelted).
After reading the other reviews I want looking forward to going here, but its clean and bright. Not as bad as I expected, so wanted to make sure not all the reviews are 1*
5 /5 Chris Gledhill: £10 for a cod and chips! Eat in or takeaway. What a fantastic place! Indoor seating is spacious and arranged in booths. Wooden cutlery provided. Service is fast and efficient. Good children’s menu that includes a carton of orange/apple juice. Teas and coffees served too. Seems to be a dog friendly place too as a couple of well-behaved dogs were sat happily by their owners tables in the restaurant. Ketchup costs extra so bring your own if you want to save 60p
2 /5 Sam N: Very unimpressed and the prices are extortionate now. The cod seemed like it had been sliced in half, making a really thin piece. It was also overcooked for both of us, very dry. Been going here for years during our visits to the island - £13 for a portion of cod and chips is too much. Comparable places in similar settings across the island are much more reasonable. Sadly there are not really any other options for fish & chips in Shanklin so they can charge what they like and get away with it. The chips themselves were good.
1 /5 wane per: Worst food I have ever tasted fish is raw, I bought burgers for kids smell n taste of fish. Totally means frying fish fish n burgers in same oil so would recommend to shut the shop as per hygiene food safety guidelines. Would be two different types of oil. Third I bought chips 5 pounds but all brokens chips. Not recommended to anyone who has an allergy. Paid so much money no sauce nothing at all. If ask them asked for money 0.30p for money disappointment.
1 /5 Jenny Langdon: Would not go here again! Appalling food, greasy, over priced (£40 for 3 small boxes of chips, a small pie, 3 soft drinks and a cheeseburger that was nothing short of inedible). Should have looked at the reviews before going, at least the seagulls got a good lunch as it was that awful we didnt even eat it.
Benjamin Guy Popped in today, only had a scotch egg (exceptional) and an alcohol free beer. Was expecting it to be stuffy and unwelcoming - but couldnt have been further from that. It really did feel like a proper pub, although I stayed quieter the bar side - I didnt realise it had a conservatory and that was significantly busier.
Whilst I only made a brief stop on my way through London, it was welcoming, excellent service and Ill certainly be back - hopefully Ill have more free time for a proper meal next time!
Joanne Long Amazing find! Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere and service is top tier. Usually find service lacks when the option of ordering on an app but this place still has the art. Tapas options were great, tasty and varied. Highly recommend!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Let’s eat Let’s Travel Nice food! Wraps are good not big enough though…just being greedy as they are so yummy. Chips are pretty good too. Would recommend a cheap version on Nando’s
S D I havent been here for years since working nearby, and I forgot how lovely this pub is. Staff really nice and a very pleasant atmosphere. Stopped for a pint and games of pool. An excellent table, everything else great too.
Lou Lovely pub with live music playing. Sat on the tables outside enjoying drinks and listening to the music. Great food served here as well, recommend the fish and chips, burger and macaroni cheese. Lovely sunny afternoon with great views across the Solent.
