j Reviewing the cafe: loved it. We were actually looking at the menu in the window of a different cafe, when we fell into conversation with a woman, and she recommended Crates to us. So thank you, whoever you were. It’s a quaint and cosy little establishment. They do the sort of things that you might expect a corner cafe to do; but they also sprinkle in some interesting little treats. They also strongly favour local produce. I had a jacket potato with locally sourced crab and prawns - delicious and not something that you often see. Good coffee, good service, good value. Thinking through what I would normally include in a review of a cafe: there are a lot of vegetarian options on the menu; there isn’t really a children’s menu (but there is a doggy menu); and there are steps into the cafe (but level access to the outdoor tables).

Honest Aussie 10/10! The service from the young blonde waitress was excellent . The meals were really different & tasty as. They also came in short time. The whole place is spotless & neat. (Impeccably clean bathrooms are a measure of the entire place, I feel ) Such a treat

Ann Mesa Hub Sweets is a sweet haven! I tried their pancakes and churros, and it was pure perfection—balanced sweetness, impeccable texture. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff added to the charm. Reasonably priced for top-notch quality, this sweet spot is a definite must-visit. Already planning my next indulgence! Highly recommended!

Ben Mason These guys are my go to pizza place in the Crawley area. Really banging pizza. Plentiful toppings, bold flavours, great deals and all delivered piping hot. Do it (unless youre counting calories!)

Kelly Potter So, you can’t expect too much from a cheap and cheerful Toby Carvery. But what made this meal awesome was our server, Beata. From the moment we entered the restaurant she was attentive, kind, personable, professional and friendly. It was exceptionally busy on 23/1/2026. The staff were struggling, gravy ran out, the drinks machine ran out of gas and syrup but Beata kept her composure. She never showed the stress that other staff were feeling. She was more than happy to help with any questions and queries, she was very informative when telling us about meal options and current offers. She always tended to us with a smile and a kind word. I cannot give this lady enough credit. I hope she gets recognised for her hard work. Thank you Beata. The Potter Family ☺️

Louise Hicks A true hidden gem! Weve visited several Turkish restaurants across the country, and this one stands out as the absolute best. The food was absolutely delicious—beautifully presented, packed with flavour, and the portions were generous, making it excellent value for money. The staff were warm, attentive, and quick to notice when we needed anything, which is a big plus for me. In many places, you can struggle to catch a server’s eye, but not here—they were on the ball without being intrusive. 10/10 — we’d recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for a fantastic dining experience. It’s just a shame we live in Cornwall, or this would definitely be a regular spot for us!
