1 /5 Elena Winter: We visited Mum Likes Thai Food in Horsey and were extremely disappointed. The Pad Thai was bright red, overwhelmingly sour, buried under a tablespoon of dry chilli flakes, with no spring onions — nothing like authentic Thai. They didn’t even use proper king prawns, only small water prawns, which made the dish feel cheap and unbalanced.
The chicken satay bizarrely had coconut milk poured on top instead of peanut sauce, the squid with garlic was unbearably salty, and the red curry was watery and oversalted. The open kitchen only confirmed our impression that dishes were assembled, not cooked from scratch.
For £73, this was completely unacceptable. On a quiet Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was empty — clearly not a true Thai restaurant. Save your money — we will not be returning and will stick to authentic Thai spots in London where the food is properly prepared, balanced, and worth the price.
