2 /5 Erin Heim: We have been to The Big Society a few times on a Tuesday evening and its been fine, but tonight we had a genuinely strange and awkward experience.
My husband and I came in for a couple of pints and some curly fries, and we chose a table for two that was out of the way (we thought) and wasnt reserved. We got our food and had begun eating, and then we were approached by the bar staff and told that we needed to move because the quiz needed that table. This was really off-putting because we had checked beforehand that we werent sitting at a table that had a reserved sign on it. Furthermore, the staff told us to move but did not make any attempt to help us move our food and drinks somewhere else in the pub. It made for an awkward experience.
About fifteen minutes later, presumably after the staff had solved whatever issue they needed to solve by not having the right tables reserved for the quiz, they came over and apologised and offered us a round of drinks. By then we had already decided that we would finish our drinks and head to the Star around the corner.
I think well stick with the Star from now on. Its got a warm and inclusive vibe, and weve never been made to feel unwelcome there.
