Alexander House & Utopia Spa - (Near , South East)

1 /5 Yves Hey: his feels like a 3-star hotel at best. Everything is dated, and a lot of the facilities don’t even work anymore because of how old the property is. The décor is also very tacky and outdated, and the room felt more like a university dorm than a hotel room. On top of that, everything is wildly overpriced — and it’s not about the money. I’m more than happy to spend for genuinely good service and quality, but not for substandard, disappointing experiences like this. The spa was even worse — honestly the worst treatment I’ve ever had. The treatment room was freezing; I couldn’t stop sneezing afterwards because I was so cold. To make matters worse, I booked a one-hour massage but the therapist only did 40 minutes, which is completely unacceptable and shockingly unprofessional. Also see from the picture, how dirty the sheet in treatment room is !!!!! And they expect me to just lie down on it ? And the restaurant service was just as bad. They completely ignored my order — I asked for cod and was served trout instead. On top of that, the waiting time between dishes was ridiculous, around 20 minutes per course.

4 /5 K A: Overall I had a really pleasant experience at Alexander House. I stayed for 3 days (2 nights). Upon arrival I was met by the beautiful historic building in its beautiful natural setting. Even the drive through the village leading up to the hotel was quaint and beautiful. The reception staff that checked me in were really nice at check in (Samuel and the 2 lovely ladies whose names escape me) and through out my stay. I had a treatment at the Utopia Spa and highly recommend it. Katie who did my treatment was just a pleasure. I stayed in the Eucalyptus suite which is lovely and overlooks the beautiful green landscape. It is on the modern side of the building so I felt I was missing some of the historic aspects like the rooms on the otherside. I would also like to shout out the wonderful restaurant staff both at dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately there are a few minor issues that caused me to drop a point. If you are like myself and like to use the gym even if you are away then it is pretty basic, also the gym and studio ceilings were leaking quite a bit when I was there. My room was right near the corridor door for entering the suite areas and as a light sleeper I could hear all the chatter outside the room as people came up or housekeeping in the morning (this will absolutely not be a problem if you are not a light sleeper). The bathroom was nice but the towel warmer never came on and the room itself was a tad cold with no way to increase the temperature. Although dinner was nice (apple crumble dessert was beautiful), breakfast on the 2 mornings were disappointing. Both the vegetarian full English on morning one and omelette or morning two were quite oily/ greasy for my taste. However the continental breakfast choices were good. To end on a good note, the hotel is well placed for visiting local landmarks like Wakehurst and Hever Castle or taking a walk or cycle through the beautiful countryside.

5 /5 Al: My partner and I stayed here for an overnight spa getaway.All the staff were so lovely and helpful. We were also given a room upgrade as they knew we were celebrating, which was incredible. Spa treatments both lovely and the spa itself is gorgeous, it is very well looked after and has so many different amenities. Overall we had a wonderful stay and look forward to coming back again! Thanks to the team for making our stay so special!

4 /5 Hannah Sawbridge: I had a very relaxing and comfort stay here. The bed is extremely comfy, even the most inexpensive rooms in the hotel are a good temperature and spacious with lovely bathrooms. Theyre generously stocked with tea biscuits and coffee making. The spa was great, actually hot pools, sauna and great range of treatments. I could spend all day in the relaxation room. I think its best to buy a package as I wouldnt pay 100-150 solely for a massage personally. Food was OK. I had the Sunday roast and honestly didnt exceed expectations but for 45 for three courses and drinks I cant complain too much! breakfast included, the buffet was decent, I ordered an eggs Benedict which was a little disappointing, egg needed another 45secs-1 minute and the hollandaise was too vinegary for me. Service was really good though. Id definitely come back for the spa and rooms.
