3 /5 Ben H: Overall an ok experience. We were seated promptly and showed to our kitchen counter table with no issues. Drinks were also ordered fairly promptly. However, after 20 minuites of waiting for our food order to be taken, we had to call someone over, who appeared to be visibly bothered by this, as if we were inconveniencing them. Food: We decided to order the Sunday roast platter on this particular occasion, as I had heard online that it was something we must try. The starters were tasty, and I enjoyed the mushroom parfait, fried beans & peppers, and the blooming onion, which we had to pay an extra £12 for on top of the existing starters. Then came the Sunday platter roast, which I will break down here: Pros: Potatoes were fluffy and crisp, and the carrots were also flavoursome. My favourite of the meats was definitely the ribs, which were nice and tender, and had a pleasant tangy glaze to accompany it. Cons: beef was a bit chewy, and the chicken was oversalted. The gravy was also a bit too strong, almost as if the wine in it wasnt cooked down enough. This was a bit of a nitpick on my part, but there was far too much swede on the plate. Dessert: The dessert was nice, but it was far too small for both of us. Ambience: The restaurant experience was decent, but I was a little disappointed by the kitchen counter experience. I have had other kitchen counter experiences at other establishments, but the energy seemed a little stiff here (the head chef did present the blooming onion to us though) Price: I think for the quality of the food and the portions we were given, the Sunday roast platter was far too expensive, especially considering the extra 14.5% service charge on top. 4 /5 Cookie Dave: We’ve been to their sister restaurant / pop-up when it was at Heddon street, many moons ago.. and loved it. So I was curious to try ‘Roe’ this time and closer to where we live… We had two dogs with us and a friend joined us. It is super dog friendly, ( must of been at least 5 other dogs in there ) They supplied dog rugs and water at our table which was very much appreciated. They’ve even got a Dog menu although we didn’t use that we had our own treats but super thoughtful…. A friend and I went for the Sunday set menu £60pp, a selection of three vegetarian entrees, three meat platter suckling pig, chicken and beef, and a huge selection of vegetables including roast potatoes….. gravy and three side sauces….. my wife had a flatbread of octopus which apparently was very tasty as well. We finished with the banana desert although the other desert/sticky toffee pudding on the menu wasn’t available and replaced with some sort of soft serve ice cream and rhubarb which wasn’t our cup of tea…. Had an espresso martini and amaretto to finish, which finished off the joint birthday celebration nicely. Overall a very good meal, service excellent and the total bill of around £270 for three people…. So perhaps not a regular place but special occasion place for us.

5 /5 Isabel W.: Nice location. Beautiful spring day, full of sunshine. Lunch invite from my son. Roe was impressive. Beautiful interior, tables, dinner-and glass ware. Charming receptionist, lovely table service. Fantastic work from the kitchen. The food was wonderful. We couldnt decide on pudding, and therefore ordered three. Excellent decision :) Tried Roe, Fallow and Fowl now. They really know what they are doing. Strong recommendation. ♡♡♡♡♡♡

3 /5 James Fernley: Outstanding food let down by poor front of house. Arrived at 20:55 for a 21:15 chefs counter booking, queue was so long and forced to stand outside in the cold. Made the decision to speak to front of house manager and explain I had a booking at 21:15 at the chefs counter. I was then told “your table won’t be ready at 21:15 and we don’t know when it will be”. We decided to then walk to hawksmoor to have a drink at the bar while we waited (noting they gave us the wrong drinks but offered them on the house as an apology). Returned back at 21:25 as I was told to “come back a little after 21:15”. Still another queue. I asked for my table and then staff asked me “do you have to have a chefs counter table” - I responded “yes, that’s what I booked”. Finally we were offered a table at the bar, and ordered a glass of Ruinart Blanc De Blancs whilst we were waiting. Bar service good - finally got seated at 21:55 and then the following 1hr 45 of food was oustanding. Decadent mushroom parfait, meat skewers with the perfect cook, and one of the best beef tartare’s we’ve ever had. I the got told the fish of the day was stone bass at £35 which sounded super reasonable, I ordered this and then got told they were were serving monkfish but ended up receiving turbot for £13 more than the quoted stone bass (only finding at the end of the meal). We finished with a banana parfait dessert which was outstanding, and an espresso which arrived just after we finished the dessert but we’d ordered at the same time. Zach/Zack our waiter provided great service and understood once we explained the above, and kindly removed the service charge and additional fish charge from our bill. I’ve eaten at a number of Michelin star restaurants and actually found the food here more fun, innovative and enjoyable but a really junior team of front of house who exhibited nothing but apathy and eye rolls really let down the evening. Food 5*, front of house 1*. Staff your teams better on a valentines Saturday night and get someone running the front of house team who knows service and this is a top top restaurant.
