What Clients Are Saying The Chequers, Cotswolds (GG)
5 /5 Hannah Folloni: Really lovely pub, we got parked right outside the front door which was nice as it was raining. It is very dog friendly with treats for them at the door and the offer of a water bowl should you need it. The service was great and there were very friendly staff that seemed very happy to help. The food was lovely too. Loved the decor, it was very inviting and nostalgic of how a pub should look in my opinion. All in all a very lovely place to spend a few hours. We will no doubt be back.
4 /5 millie purser: Really nice warm, cosy and welcoming pub. Asked for a quiet table for our anxious dog and they did really well to sit us away from the main restaraunt.
Perhaps just bad luck but we were told they were out of 2 menu items when we got there and then waited almost 30 minutes to place our food order and by that time they had sold the last pie that my partner wanted... and then ran out of the accompaniments for my lamb after I ordered... overall service was quite slow which is my only gripe but food was absolutely unreal! Some of the best pub food I have ever had and great drinks selection too.
5 /5 Sophie Schäfer: Wow — what an incredibly charming, traditional English countryside restaurant and pub. We had a genuinely lovely evening: starting at the bar with local beer and a few snacks, followed by two exceptionally good burgers in the restaurant and the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Strong recommendation also for the herb aioli. Beyond that, the staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating throughout our visit.
5 /5 Jenny Logie: A lovely friendly gastro pub with great staff and fabulous food. Our lunch consisted of starters; Devon crab on toast and Padron peppers (both delicious); my flat iron steak was so tender, tasty and perfectly cooked and the beer battered haddock & chips was delicious too! We sat outside on comfortable bench seating (cushions provided). Good choice of wines by the glass too. The inside dining and bar areas looked inviting too. We will definitely return.
Tolu Came to visit this lovely town and visited The Hare for dinner. We called ahead to check for availability last minute, which luckily they had, I’d recommend booking ahead.
From the moment we walked in, I was happy. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, as well as the drinks. I came with a group and we were all very satisfied. I will definitely revisit this restaurant, when I’m back in Bourton On The Water.
Pete Hickey A Wonderful lunch at The Boxing Hare – We’ll Be Back!
Tucked away in the idyllic Cotswolds just outside Chipping Norton, The Boxing Hare is the kind of gem that feels like a warm hug from an old friend. From the moment we stepped through the door of this charming stone-built inn, we knew we’d stumbled upon something special. The rustic beams, cozy ambiance, and that inviting garden peeking through the windows set the perfect scene for a family meal out
The steaks are some of the best we have had in a long long time

Just before the pub re opens in November we saw a FB add for the food they will be providing from the gourmet food shack.
We had the burger box and it was banging. Not only did it look like the photo it tasted excellent! Shall definitely be going in to the pub come November when they open for sure to sample the beverage to go alongside the burger ❤️
