5 /5 Annie Vetchasart: Britains Bayeux Tapestry is one of the worlds most famous pieces of medieval art. You can visit these amazing tapestry artworks in Readings museum. The Tapestry is a copy, and it took a year to make.

5 /5 Frances Hart: Excellent hand embroidered copy of the original by Victorian-era women of Leek, Staffordshire. What an undertaking, beautifully done. We had a better experience of seeing this compared to the original, due to the setup, lighting, and (surprisingly) the pre-battle events separated from the battle itself. I noticed a teacher (or summer camp instructor?) using this break very effectively with his students in reviewing the leadup to battle and encouraging curiosity as to what would happen next. There were many sections I had no memory of from seeing the original, including of the horses in tortued positions during battle- just incredible. Its a powerful historical record and Id strongly recommend viewing this version. Well done, Reading Museum!

4 /5 Mark Poley: Great tapestry of the Norman Conquest and the events leading up to it. Its a Victorian Tapestry which is a true copy of the original. Its big! Allow 40 minutes to get a good look or longer if you like to read all the information given under each panel as we did. It gives an insight into the power politics surrounding the succession and reason for Williams claim to the Throne. Free entry. Also it is part of the Reading Museum which covers the main historical events of Reading. It is also free of charge.
