4 /5 Night Shift Rider: Myself and my partner decided to eat here in the Excel Center during the RARE2023 book signing event.
We were looking at other nearby establishments until we realised they had poor reviews, we then saw that Baba Dhaba didnt have any reviews and thought wed take a chance. Im usually used to Indian food but this place sold Pakistani food which seemed like an interesting thing to try for the first time.
I got a Chicken Tandoori Wrap, Masala Fries and a homemade Mango Lassi. My bill came to £18.50.
Id like to point out that Im not the biggest fan of spicy food, but I was actually quite impressed. The food was tasty, tasted fresh and although it was spicy, it wasnt tooo spicy.
The Chicken Tandoori Wrap was nice, and was packed with meat and veggies, I will say however it was very messy and the wrap itself soaked up a lot of juice which made it floppy. I found it easier to simply open it and eat it with a fork.
The Masala Fries were very tasty! Although I did avoid the chillies. These were essentially dirty fries with a Pakistani twist and they were very nice especially when combined with the sauces on offer, one of which is yoghurt which helped balance the spice.
The Mango Lassi was essentially a creamy mango smoothie and it was incredible. It also used yoghurt which again made it a perfect sweet and cooling combination with the spicy food.
Customer service wasnt much to talk about.
Werent rude or anything but also didnt really seem like they wanted to be there. Seems to be a common thing in many restaurants in London unfortunately.
Cant say much in terms of atmosphere either as this place is located within the Excel Center. I will say though the style and aesthetic of Baba Dhaba was quite nice.
Would I come here again? Probably but it wouldnt be my first choice, that being said this kind of food isnt really my go to, but I did definitely enjoy it and I certainly had no buyers remorse. Id say give this place a chance if you want to try something a bit different, especially within the Excel Center.
