5 /5 Matteo Meinert: This was the first restaurant/bar Ive visited in Canterbury - and it definitely set high expectations for the others.
The vibe is right, the service is good and its clean. Not to mention the outstanding food! And it isnt even too pricey, even as a student. The price for the food totally pays off.
Ate and left no crumbs.
5 /5 Tom Wilson: Brilliant staff. Brilliant food. Brilliant pub. Thank you for being so accommodating for a late large booking of food. Everything ran perfectly.
Great lineup of beers and the food was exceptional.
5 /5 George Hallums-Etchingham: Didnt know there were pubs like this in London. Staff super welcoming and friendly, told us there would be a long wait for food because of a function upstairs. Sausages from the market over the road came fairly quickly anyway, were lush. Staff made it feel like we were being welcomed into their home. Drinks were well measured. Astonishingly well priced, not sure there are many places in London where you can get 3 meals with drinks for
5 /5 Keith Martin: Canterbury is the kind of place that’s primed for a pub crawl. And yet, locals and visitors alike tend to find a favourite and stick to it – like the Bishops Finger. The Bishops Finger is head and shoulders above the competition, one of the area’s most in-favour drinking holes thanks to a huge range of craft ales and great accompanying grub. In summer, the doors are flung open and punters spill on to the street.
Staff are enthusiastic and eager to ensure if you have a great time.
It’s small enough and busy enough to encourage table reservations.
katy The food at Cafe des Amis is absolutely delicious. we had a lot of different dishes and each one was cooked to perfection. the cocktail menu is also great with loads of different options and types of alcoholic variety. Sophia was our waitress and she made the experience even more enjoyable, she was kind and friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. i would highly recommend Cafe des Amis!
Brady Brady We visited May 21, 2025. Thanks to some recommendations by locals via a Canterbury citizens Facebook page, we were pleased to have visited the The Goods Shed. We got to try free samples of some wonderful cheeses, before sitting outside to eat our purchases of cheese and cider. Its a really fun place.
Mary Had a lovely meal here while visiting Canterbury.
The pork belly was the most flavorful thing I had in England. It was perfectly tender and the sauce was really paired well with it. The portion size is just right.
This was located inside the Goods Shed, which had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were also quite welcoming.
Ranger Michael J “Bulldog” Of the years of going to Canterbury, Ive never been in here. Now thats where we head! We always went in to the other wetherspoons at the top of the city.
We head for Canterbury quite a bit & always start with a breakfast.
The west gate is smaller, but much more friendly. Theres less "hustle & bustle" too. Although the food is similar, Ive noticed its hotter?
A really nice little Spoons in our mind.
Janice A We dropped in for lunch on a Saturday, and although it was busy and we hadnt booked, the staff were very accommodating and found us a table. The food was excellent: margherita pizza for me, and burger & chips for my partner (gluten free!). Speedy service, lovely staff, great food.
