3 /5 Handmade heaven: We visited this restaurant on Sunday morning (11th January) for breakfast to celebrate my birthday. When booking, my partner mentioned in the notes that it was a special occasion.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, modern, elegant, and with a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted politely by the front of house staff and were allowed to choose our table, which we appreciated. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday morning.
Unfortunately, the service was slower than expected. Our drinks took quite a while to arrive, including water, and at one point we wondered if the order had been missed. Given how few people were there, we were expecting a quicker and smoother service.
We ordered an English breakfast and pancakes with mascarpone, kefir and berry compote. While the English breakfast was fine, the pancakes were disappointing: they were very dark underneath, quite hard, and difficult to cut, which made them less enjoyable than expected.
Once we asked for the bill, service became very quick and efficient, which was appreciated. However, overall we felt that the experience didn’t quite match the expectations set by the lovely setting and the price. We spent around £40, which didn’t feel fully justified.
It’s a nice-looking place, but sadly our breakfast didn’t live up to what we had hoped for on a special occasion.
