3 /5 Isabella Pepe: On Friday night, my partner and I visited Kibou for a treat after a long week. We’ve been a few times before and have always loved the food, ambience, and overall experience. Once again, the food did not disappoint, especially the aubergine dishes we always enjoy. Everything we ordered was delicious.
Unfortunately, the service and overall experience let the evening down. When ordering, we made it very clear to our waitress that we were sharing starters but having separate mains due to an allergy. She repeated this back to us, so we felt confident it was understood. However, my main arrived around 20 minutes before my partner’s, meaning we had to eat separately. When we asked for an update, we were simply told there was a delay on the Dragon Rolls, but we weren’t given any sense of timing and no apology was offered.
We had started the evening with cocktails and then ordered a bottle of wine to enjoy with our starters. Our empty cocktail glasses were cleared soon after ordering the wine, so we assumed it would arrive shortly. After waiting through our starters and some time after, we asked where the wine was, only to be told it was “in the fridge,” which left us confused, as we had clearly intended to have it with our food.
We did pay the service charge and didn’t raise these points at the time, but we hope this review reaches the staff and management, as we would love to see the experience improved.
We will visit again, we just hope our next visit will be smoother.
