La Cucina di Mama has a lovely ambience and the setting is pleasant, especially if you’re looking for an easy, relaxed Italian dinner in the area.
Unfortunately, the food itself was fairly average in terms of flavour. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not particularly memorable. Given the prices, I was expecting a noticeably higher standard. In my view, the dishes would feel about right if they were roughly 25% cheaper.
It felt as though you’re largely paying for the location. For comparison, some of the pricing is similar to (or even slightly higher than) restaurants around Westminster Bridge, which are in a more premium setting and, in my experience, deliver better quality.
Overall, it was okay - perfectly fine if you’re nearby and hungry - but it’s not somewhere I would personally go out of my way to return to.
