1 /5 Anita: I’m sorry to say this because the staff were really lovely, but I can think of few foods I’ve been more appalled by in my life: this was genuinely one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had.
The waiter strongly recommended their most expensive sirloin steak (£39). I’m a big steak lover and both cook it myself and eat it frequently in restaurants, so was keen. I ordered it medium, and initially they brought it medium-well done. It tasted absolutely awful. But I thought hey, maybe they just overcooked it - the waitress kindly offered to bring me a new one. Sadly, now this one was medium rare, rather than medium. But whatever, I’m not going to be a Karen and complain a second time. I was disappointed, but by this point, not surprised, when this this too was tough and completely tasteless. It tasted like what I imaging steak would taste like if you boiled it and slapped it onto a plate and said “Voila!” I’ve never had a steak I hated so much I couldn’t finish it before, but I guess the universe gave me a new experience today. It was kind of funny, but when I remembered I paid the price of £39 for meat that I’ve hated more than military rations I’ve eaten, I stopped laughing. Maybe this is a sign to go vegetarian. I don’t know.
