1 /5 sharmila haque: We called earlier in the day to reserve a table for eight people as we planned to come for iftar. We were told there was availability and that the reservation was confirmed. Closer to iftar time, we called again to place a preliminary food order so the meal could be ready on time. At that point, we were told the reservation had been taken incorrectly and that the restaurant was fully booked, meaning our group would have to be split across two booths. This was very disappointing, as we would have chosen another restaurant had we been told this from the start.
Despite this, we went anyway, only to find the restaurant completely empty except for us. We were told the larger tables were reserved for a party of 20, so we still could not sit together. As this was a family meal, we squeezed all seven of us into one booth and pulled up a high chair at the end to make it work.
Unfortunately, no staff member checked on us, apologised for the situation, or asked whether everything was okay throughout the meal. When we later asked for takeaway boxes for the children’s unfinished food, the staff member at the counter seemed irritated at having to provide them.
To make matters worse, there were black particles in our water, so we didn’t feel comfortable drinking it and had to break our fast with fizzy drinks only, which was disappointing.
It’s a shame because the food itself was decent, but the overall experience overshadowed everything. Good service could have made a big difference, but sadly this visit fell far short of expectations.
