Jose Jara-López I’ve been here several times before because it’s one of my friend’s favourite restaurants, and since my brother was visiting, I wanted to bring him along. I had originally booked for 9:00 pm, but after walking for hours we arrived at 8:00 pm, thankfully, they were happy to seat us earlier with no issues.
We were welcomed with papadum served alongside two sauces (one yogurt‑based and the other slightly spicier) plus some vegetables as starters. Tap water was readily available on the table.
We ordered the mutton tikka, which I can’t recommend enough, the flavour and texture were fantastic. For mains, we had the Karahi king prawn and the aloo meat (potato and lamb) curry. Both dishes were delicious and very filling. We also had pilau rice and one of my favourite items on the menu: the Peshwari naan (coconut).
Everything was excellent, the food arrived quickly, and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended if you’re in Whitechapel.
