5 /5 Jenn Walls: Pepenero Italian Restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel receptionist and we tried it the very first night of our 14-day stay in London.
We had the sirloin and the veil chop and both were large portions and came with perfectly roasted and flavorful fresh carrots and potatoes.
We actually came back to make a total of 4 times (and we still have 8 more nights to go). Each night was even better than the one before. The food, the service, the personal care and interest in making everyone feel special (without being too social, but ready and observant of details).
The second and third time we came, we requested to substitute the potatoes (they were excellent, but we were on a low-carb diet) and the fresh broccoli was perfectly cooked and flavored as good as the fresh roasted carrots. The 4th time we came, we had actually gone to another restaurant, but our taste buds were longing for Pepenero’s amazing succulent steaks - and we wanted to try the lamb chops with mint sauce, with roasted vegetables. I’ve had lamb chops on numerous occasions in America, but these put all of those past experiences to shame! They were much bigger, perfectly grilled, and as succulent as their ribeye steak, sirloin, or veil chop.
We also had their Americano coffee with double cream and received a perfectly paired French dessert wine, on the house, which was so flavorful that my husband (who does not drink) actually enjoyed it, as well.
While writing this review, we already know we will be back - again and again - before we leave our London holiday.
Such a special place to make wonderful memories and celebrate the missed occasions from my husband’s deployment. He left in April and won’t return until near April of next year. We will say our goodbyes in just over a week; as he returns to a peacekeeping mission and I return to America without him, but….we will always have London, and we will always remember the memories and joys that we had at Pepenero’s.
