2 /5 Ellis Butler: Overall, the room was a good size, comfortable, and quiet at night, and the location worked well for getting around London. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, which is obviously important.
That said, the condition of the room really let the stay down. All four walls had noticeable scuffs and marks, including marks on the ceiling, and there was visible damage to the desk. The windowsill was also in a bit of disrepair, and the air conditioning unit was visibly dusty. I also found a small hair on the bed, which wasn’t great to see on arrival.
The main issue for me was the door, which didn’t lock properly and required a bit of an awkward routine to get it to bolt. When you’re staying on your own, you want to feel confident that your door is secure, and this didn’t really give that reassurance.
I also paid for the upgraded WiFi, but it kept disconnecting and was unreliable throughout my stay.
None of these things on their own completely ruined the stay, but together they gave the impression that the room hadn’t been properly checked or maintained before I arrived. With better attention to cleaning and maintenance, this would easily be a much better experience.
It wasn’t a bad stay overall, but it didn’t quite live up to what I’d expect, and I think there’s definitely room for improvement.
