2 /5 Charmagne Davies.: What a shame to write a poor review. My first ever as a top 10% on Google restaurant reviewer.
First of all, the place wasnt busy, 3 familys total.
We had calamari, bruschetta and pitta with dips as starters, 2 fillet steak meals, one medium surf and turf the other medium well. One beef classic beef burger.
The Medium steak came without all it said on the menu, no cutlery was organised before hand. The steak was ok, chips were chunky but cold. The beef dropping was gloopy and not very strong in flavour.
The medium well was butterflied to cook and didnt have that rich steak flavour, I hate my steak butterflied, it shows laziness with the cooking, easy way out. The peppercorn sauce was far to hot, I always have peppercorn its my favourite, but this felt like it had added spice, wasnt nice, I didnt have it.
The dressing they use around the plate was absolutely vile, I made the mistake of trying it with the first mouthful of steak and it was a bloob of guacamole, a bloob of English mustard and then some Hella spicy liquid which burns the roof of your mouth. We got told at first when we asked what it was (after the meal) and they said sweet chilli sauce, I love that, it wasnt that, it tasted and looked more like Sriracha hot chilli, definitely not what you put with steak and chips. -Be warned- if you was allergic to any of these things, theyre not noted or high lighted to be on your plate when you read the menu, nor does the waiter tell you what it is, Luckily we arent but others might be.
The waiter wasnt very attentive or aware of what was going on, noone greeted us at where youre told to wait, noone took us to our pre-booked table, there was no cutlery given after we finished our starters and before our mains, we had to ask for steak knives after they gave us the wrong knives, forgot drinks, food not delivered together, hence meals going cold, other tables being served food while we waited for our other meal.
Calamari starter was ok - small thin rings but it was ok.
Pitta bread and dip starter was decent too. Enough bread and the dips had good taste.
Hands down the best bit was the bruschetta starter and leaving the restaurant. First time ever I decided not to leave a tip. We didnt feel welcome, looked after or enjoyed the food.
The music went from Opera to chart music, quiet to loud, at times we couldnt hear each other another time we was ok, the lighting was flickering alot and actually cause your eyes to feel funny. It was a random atmosphere with such a mixture.
We paid only £76 for 2 courses each, reasonable for what it was IF you was to enjoy it. we was disappointed they didnt offer a complimentary drink for our burning mouths or even taken a token of gesture off the bill. I never complain unless I have to, this is the first time I have in a long long time, my other reviews are always full of praise at ANYWHERE we visit. We even said McDonalds would of been a better meal, unfortunately This place we wont be returning and nor will I suggest to be a place people visit for a meal.
Given 2 stars for the 2/3 starters. Unfortunately down hill from there.
