3 /5 D Shares: I’m giving 3 stars mainly because of the taste of the food. I usually choose the restaurant for our weekly dinners, and unfortunately, this was the first time everyone in our group of six was unhappy with my choice.
It was a disappointing experience. We couldn’t finish any of our meals, everything was too salty, and most dishes looked and tasted the same, with the same colour and gravy across the board. Ive tried many Sri Lankan restaurants around East London, but sadly, Singham Bay didn’t meet the mark.
We mentioned the saltiness to the staff, but apart from a quick “sorry,” there was no real acknowledgment — even though they could clearly see we hadnt touched most of the food.
We originally ordered 3 biryanis, but after taking the order, we were told they’d run out. Later, they brought just one biryani, which looked unappetizing and tasted just as poor.
The dosa was too oily, the chutneys lacked flavour, and the fish had no seasoning or taste. The chicken lollipop was oddly sweet and salty at the same time. The fish platter was underwhelming, and the naan was rubbery.
On the positive side, the decor was nice but the music was far too loud, which made it hard to talk.
Sorry, Singham Bay — I really wanted to like the place, but the food and overall experience left me very disappointed. I felt I needed to share this so others know what to expect. You need to work with your food taste.
