5 /5 Mistry Vijai (WhoKickMyDog): Not being from London, this restaurant came highly recommended to us. As it was our 20th wedding anniversary, I thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate with the family.
Let me say from the outset: we were not disappointed.
I made an enquiry through their website and received a call back that same evening. Our booking was confirmed by both phone and email, a lovely touch, with the email including every detail we needed.
Reservation fee: £10 per person. We were initially a little surprised, but fully appreciate why they do this.
Parking: Just two minutes around the corner is a busy public car park, free after 7:30pm. Although busy, spaces opened up quickly and it felt secure with plenty of people around.
Our server, Rhiddima, was warm, welcoming, and smiling. She seated us and immediately offered water, a lovely Indian custom. Her service was exceptional throughout the evening. We ordered a couple of mocktails and she even complimented our choices. My draught Cobra Beer was simply divine.
We started with the mixed platter and chicken lollipop, both excellent and generously portioned.
On the strength of the starters, we followed the lamb recommendation (Lamb Matka) along with a chicken dish (Kadal Murgh). The lamb was stunning and a very generous serving. And of course, we had naan, which together transported us straight to India.
Service remained exceptional throughout, with Rhiddima managing several tables efficiently while making us feel truly looked after.
Overall, we had an amazing evening and celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with memories we will treasure.
Would I recommend it? LOL. Take a guess.
Social Dhaba is clearly a team effort. Our thanks go to the whole team for outstanding food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Well done and richly deserved.
We will definitely be back, even with the one-hour journey. We plan to become regulars.
