5 /5 BrianK Woolven: A traditional pub and restaurant, serving a good selection of proper ales, and good food. Friendly staff, and a lovely atmosphere. A group of us had pre-food drinks, followed by a meal, and then more drinks afterwards. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Will be back.
5 /5 Jilly Smith: We treated ourselves to Christmas Day lunch as just the two of us this year & although pricey ( they presumably pay staff double time for working Christmas Day?), it was a wonderful experience! The food was delicious, the service attentive but unhurried (we needed a long pause between our main course & pudding!!) and the noise level was well moderated with no background music and no drinkers standing at the bar. Thanks to all the staff for making it truly special!!
3 /5 Cassandra Morton: While the food itself was enjoyable, I was very disappointed by the portion size of the truffle fries. Despite costing £6.95, the bowl contained just 24 fries (29pence per fry!). I mentioned this to the staff, but was informed that this was the usual portion. If I would have know the portion size would be this small, I would not have ordered them. I feel cheated.
5 /5 Alex Button: Absolutely fabulous lunch, a great choice of Ciders and Beers, local Silly Moo cider, which is tip top.
Food was outstanding. Well presented and full of flavour.
Our dog was welcome and water in a bowl supplied for her. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Mohammad Nazar Nice spot for a romantic night, but a little loud.
The food was good and the price was average. The receptionist was friendly. But the only negative thing is the food delivery from the kitchen to the table. The server threw the plate on the table hard and kept the main course on the side of the table. He was really rude. Other than this, the overall experience was good.
Flee James The best jerk chicken you will ever taste in London!! Everything cooked fresh, the vibes here are amazing and just a great place to chill and experience Hackney Wick. Support local
MADDOGLEP I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harveys Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.
Kevin We ordered Short Rib, Tuna, Chorizo, Cauliflower and Hummus. Everything was exquisitely done. Beautiful bougie vibes on a Friday night. It’s definitely worth the visit and really brings you away from Godalming to some other amazing place on holiday.
