1 /5 Stanley Akunne: On 18/11/2025, I visited the coffee shop at around 10:25am for the first time with a friend as a paying customer. As we were about to leave at 11:00am, I asked the staff if I can use the customer toilet which was clearly labelled āCustomer toiletā. I was informed that someone is in there that I should wait at the door. I waited at the door as the signed showed red and engaged. After a while , one of the female staff came out and I entered and double locked the toilet door. It has the upper and lower lock. While I was still using the toilet, I heard someone trying to open the door from outside and I thought to myself that they canāt open it since I double locked it. Next thing I heard was a bang and boom the toilet was open while I was shouting ā someone is hereā. Itās one member of staff that pushed the door open while I was using the toilet and she immediately left the door open and left. I had to quickly get up to shut the door as people were passing and looking; exposing me to the public area of the shop. This was distressing, a serious breach of privacy, and suggests that the business is not ensuring appropriate standards for customer welfare or the safe and private use of facilities. When I came out, I respectfully asked the lady that opened the door why she did that and left the door open. She started looking at me like Iām talking crazy. Next thing she started laughing and whispering to her colleagues and then they said itās my fault that I didnāt lock the door which is a lie. Iām not sure why this happened but itās absolutely inappropriate. She didnāt even apologise. I asked for their names and they refused to answer me, and said they are not allowed to say their names. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said thereās no supervisor. They all were just blaming me for what happened and no one could apologise.
The incident raises concerns regarding:
⢠Lack of adequate privacy measures
⢠Potential failure to maintain a safe and appropriate environment for customers
⢠Staff training and supervision regarding customer facilities
I would appreciate it if whoever owns this business to please into this. I will also contact Housing & Safer Communities Floor 4, The Woolwich Centre
