1 /5 Sam I: Booked the afternoon tea for Mother’s Day and couldn’t have been more disappointed.
After looking at the pictures online I thought we would give it a try compared to our usual spot at the Spa Hotel but I couldn’t believe that we never made it anywhere near the restaurant inside as we were seated in front of the main door and reception.
There was a constant stream of people walking in and out through the lobby and the only seats I could think were worse were the ones in front of the toilets.
We had our 5-month old with us and they had no high chairs available when we arrived so it was clear they had overbooked deliberately and tried to capitalise by setting tables anywhere they could.
I was embarrassed having brought my wife on her first celebration of Mother’s Day as a mother.
To make things worse there was a passing wind that gave my daughter a chill and they ignored the dietary request we had made for pescatarian only. As you’ll see in the picture they brought a tray out with ham, chicken and other.
Of course we sent it back and had to wait for the food as requested. The tea that was given was subpar but what was more frustrating was that they had no clue of what was on offer and no menu was provided so we were simply plucking from our memory whatever tea we wanted (which in most cases wasn’t available).
They charged extra for coffees and on the topic of cost they also mistakingly charged me the lunch rate which was £19 more expensive and then proceeded to justify the price until I showed the email which detailed the actual price.
The whole experience was terrible, I would have rather been told that there wasn’t space than sitting me in the hallway opposite the receptionist and it was clear that those who were waiting the tables had close to no clue what they were doing, with no idea of what is available, serving the wrong food, and incorrectly billing.
I would recommend to stay far far away from here unless you are meeting someone who already resides there for lunch or dinner. Never again.
