5 /5 Linda McLoon: Whats not to love about delicious food served in a beautiful dining room? That descibes Goring Dining Room, which is inside the Goring Hotel in London. We had a wonderful dinner here.
The dining room reminds me of New Orleans, very colorful and full of flowered drapes and old pictures. With the jazz playing in the background, it felt rather old-fashioned. The food, however, is not!!
We started with cocktails. I had the Goring gin on ice, and my husband had a manhattan. They served a lovely amuse bouche with them. I love those little surprises.
I had the scallop first course, which was delicious. They were served with peas, broad beans, and a smoked butter sauce. Yum! And the plating was really beautiful. My husband had the eggs, crab, caviar, and lobster first course. Again, beautifully plated, and absolutely scrumptious!
We both had the lamb, which was cooked perfectly. It was served with apricot, morels, eggplant, and a meat pie!! Sensational! We also ordered the truffles mashed potatoes, but we did not need them at all.
The desserts were equally wonderful. I had the clotted cream, lemon curd, and yogurt which got some crunch from shards of meringue. It was light and fresh! My husband had the rice pudding with cherries. Then they brought out tiny sweets. I love that! What a fantastic meal!
The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere calm and sedated. I highly recommend you dine here!
