3 /5 The Kosher Reviewer: When I first walked into The Kanteen, my first impression wasn’t great — the place didn’t look very clean, and my table and chair clearly hadn’t been wiped down. The staff were okay, polite enough, but not particularly attentive.
As for the food and drinks, it was a real mix. The drinks were disappointing — not very flavorful and a bit watered down. I ordered the Shakshuka, which unfortunately was quite tasteless and lacked seasoning. The pizza was also greasy and didn’t have much flavor, which was a letdown.
On the positive side, the fish and chips were very good — crispy, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The pasta I had was also delicious, with a nice balance of flavor and texture. The highlight of the meal, though, was definitely the dessert. I had the Belgian waffle, and it was absolutely fantastic — warm, fluffy, and perfectly sweet.
Overall, The Kanteen has some hits and misses. With better attention to cleanliness and consistency in the food, it could easily be a much better dining experience.
