FM-N We discovered Afrikana as its on our local takeout list. The food is always always top notch. So we decided to celebrate a birthday at Afrikana, we had to book by email as we were a larger party (7 people). We then turned up early to boot. But everyone was welcoming and our table was ready for us immediately. We ordered the ‘meat again’ as a shared plate, the ‘just kebabin’ with lamb and ‘we goat your back’ which is a family favourite and so delicious. We also ordered the loaded mac n cheese for the pasta freak in the group (who was also the birthday person). And extra plantain because I love plantain, and hummus which was served with the softest most delicious pita. We also had pretty much one of every mocktail, they were all delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was not too loud, so we could hear eachother and talk comfortably, the food was fresh and tasty. We ate till we almost popped. Shout out for the desserts, we had one of each of those too. They were all a taste sensation. Special thanks to the amazing wait staff, who were friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough, even tho we turned up early with a massive party (really sorry about that). The food was amazing atmosphere was lovely, and all at a very reasonable price. If you’re celebrating or want to eat out somewhere that makes delicious food this is the place for you. Special mention for the Afrikana fries, if you like slightly hot piquant sauce this ones for you

Benjamin Tubbs We had such a lovely visit to the Carpenters Arms recently! The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Warm and cozy atmosphere inside. The outside area is just as charming – a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a drink. Great to see that the prices seem to have been reduced to a more affordable level. It makes such a difference and means we’ll definitely be coming back more often. Highly recommended!

Becky Hinton We had a fantastic meal here. We sat outside on a warm summer evening watching the world go by! The food was amazing, possibly the best muscles I have ever had. Hubby went for the lamb chops and was also pleased. All local food and drinks too (where possible). Will definitely be back

Ali Ege Deveci These fried chickens are great value for money and absolutely delicious. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the food is always fresh and served hot.

Chun Yiu This is simply the best food that I have ever tried in the Milton Keynes, I dare to say! If you like good quality Japanese food, this is a must-try. The salmon sashimi is so fresh & sweet that its like straightly from Japan. The soft shell crab is glorious, and we ended up ordering 3 rounds of them. The beef bibimbap is tasty with perfect texture and flavour, which I just cant find anything comparable in the Milton Keynes at all. Overall Im sure my family will return very soon.

Norah The food was incredible, from start to finish. The flavors were on point and the presentation was stunning. The staff was super friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The cozy atmosphere just added to the overall charm. Definitely a must-visit spot in Reading!
