5 /5 Leah Parry: Im so surprised that there are so few reviews for this restaurant! Its perfectly situated on the sea front, the team are wonderfully accommodating and the food is delicious! I took my dad here on a visit as he loves seafood and I was intrigued that even though it only had a handful of reviews, they were all rating it very highly. We ordered some appetisers (the pan scorched padron peppers and mixed olives) while we caught up and my Dad decided on his choices. They have such a great selection that he was struggling to pick what to have! I realised as well that even though they are a seafood restaurant, they definitely have more options that just seafood - the main menu is divided into "from the land" and "from the sea" which is super interesting and definitely shows they have something for everyone. Eventually, my Dad decided on the squid braised in fresh chilli to start and the aromatic whole sea bass for his main while I chose the haddock and salmon cakes to start and the prawn and chicken butter curry for my main. Everything we had was delectable. I was worried my fish cake starter would be quite a filling starter, but the fish cakes came out in a lovely small and delicate portion with a side salad and a side of tartar sauce, perfect for a starter. My dad loved his starter, said it was cooked perfectly and was seasoned just right. The mains were just as good! My butter curry was super flavourful and really well made - it was a tasty spin on a standard chicken curry. The saffron and tarragon rice was light and fragrant along with the depth of the curry. My dad loves a whole fish and a sea bass is a classic for him. Interestingly, the crust that came on the sea bass was extraordinarly well seasoned; it was a bit on the pokey side for chilli spice, even for him, but he loved it. He only mentioned that a sea bass is quite a light fish and so the contrast of the dense and heavy crust that they had made with seasoning the outside of the fish was interesting and definitely flavourful. If we had any constructive criticism to give, it would be that the crust of the fish was probably better suited to a denser fish like a mackerel, as some of the delicate flavour of the sea bass was lost from the seasoning; even so, my dad still thoroughly enjoyed it and said the flavours of the crust were incredible. In the end, for 2 appetisers, a glass of wine each, a small bottle of sparkling water, 2 small bottles of still water, 2 starters and 2 mains, the meal came to roughly ÂŁ55 each not including a tip, which we thought was super reasonable considering everything we had ordered and the quality of it! He wants me to take him back on his next visit and bring my Step Mum as he thinks she would love it and we have so many more options on the menu we want to try, so we will definitely be back!
