5 /5 Sanjana Mitra: I recently visited The Ship Inn in Herne Bay, and what a delightful experience it was! If youre looking for a true British pub experience with an inviting atmosphere, this place ticks all the boxes. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with that classic pub charm—dimly lit, cozy with wooden beams, and a friendly, relaxed vibe that felt instantly welcoming.
The décor has that authentic, rustic British pub feel with maritime touches that fit perfectly with its coastal location. You can almost feel the history of the place, and it’s a perfect setting to unwind, whether youre with friends or enjoying a quiet solo meal.
I was lucky enough to grab a seat by the window, which offered a fantastic view of the beach. Theres something about watching the sea while sipping a pint that really elevates the whole experience. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, making it the perfect balance for a casual meal or a long, leisurely drink.
I had the filthy fries paired with a beautifully cooked rump steak, and it was absolutely divine. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking, tender, and flavorful, and the fries were crispy with just the right seasoning. The menu had a solid variety of traditional pub classics and some intriguing specials, and it was hard to choose!
The service was exceptional as well. The staff were friendly making sure everything was to our liking. I’ve also seen mentions of their good selection of local ales, and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cold drink after a day at the beach.
If youre in Herne Bay, do yourself a favour and stop by The Ship Inn. Whether youre after a delicious meal, a refreshing drink, or just a great spot to take in the views, you won’t be disappointed!
