1 /5 Cathy Byron: If you are looking to book the function room at the Travellers Rest you may wish to think really twice, this is not a function room this can only be described as dilapidated scout hall. The room was very dated, dirty, cold, the bar was limited in choice of drinks, no music, one toilet which was extremely dirty. We asked if they could turn up the heating as the building was so cold, only to be told if they did this it would cause the building electric to cut out. The food offered was ok, although no effort was taken in presentation, tea’s and coffees where offered in papers cups. We arrived there just after 2.00pm and then told that we only had the function room until 6.00pm, we only found this out on arrival. Friday the 9th January 2026 was the we wake for my very special mother at the Traveller’s Rest, we wanted this day to be memorable for my mums family and friends. We were totally stunned when we walked into the function room and seen what we were presented with, we were totally lost for words, but, as there was many people there we had to put on a brave face, although my sister run out of the room crying. We paid for top level service and this is not what we got. We woud only add that the proprietor of the Travellers Rest should not offer this function room for hire until this has been completely refurbished. These are the photos they use on the website to promote the function room. They are out of date and it does not look like this in realty. Smells damp and not fit for purpose.

1 /5 Brenda Hewitson: My sister booked this venue for my Mothers funeral. We was shocked to see a shabby function room with a limited bar and dirty toilet, only one female toilet available. Buffet was acceptable. Tea and coffee served in takeaway paper cups. Function room very dated and unkept. Attached photos of what we booked and what we got. We booked the function room in the pub, see photos, the manager moved us to the outside building to make room for another funeral, see attached

4 /5 Lynn Hill: Popped in on Sunday, very friendly staff. We decided to have the carvery,served by the lovely Tony. Meats were cooked beautifully and very generous portion, good variety veg, great gravy and sauces. Would recommend and will return.

5 /5 Abboman: Popped in for the first time in 30yrs....not much has changed...great to relive happy memories with my Grandad and Aunty Molly My very first pint was enjoyed here and there was a huge steak. Many happy visits over my teen years and early 20,s visiting from Poole.
