5 /5 Parveen Naujeer: My husband brought me here for a Valentine’s lunch. I was really impressed. The pub is beautiful and dates back to the 16th Century, the pub owner was friendly welcoming and attentive, making sure we enjoyed our food but giving us the space and time to enjoy our experience. Our table and area was cosy and warm; there were no spaces left in the restaurant area but I was really pleased with the window seat we were given which was intimate and provided a good view of the area. Finally the food was the highlight. Absolutely delicious, plentiful and great value for money. I had panko breaded Brie for starter and the most delicious steak and Guinness pie… both were sooo delicious! I would highly recommend this pub and I’ll be happy to come back again in the summer. :)

5 /5 Awantika Khulbe: Gorgeous views and a great atmosphere — I absolutely love the breaded prawns here, they’re my favourite! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating with heaters, which is perfect year-round. I always bring visiting relatives here to give them a proper taste of a classic British countryside pub experience.

5 /5 Rachel Buckley: Booked a table well several weeks in advance (which I would recommend due to it being popular) for 4 people. Our table was situated right in front of the fire and came straight in to the smells of the fire and food cooking. We all ordered drinks at the table and food. Unforautnly there was a mix up with one of the meals however the staff rectified this immediately and we couldnt fault their attentiveness. I ordered the Well House burger (classic bacon cheeseburger) and it came fries, coleslaw and onion rings. It was a delicious burger, not too dry and great flavours. We all finished off with deserts and coffee. Great experience for a random find, and will definitely be coming again. Dog friendly in the bar area also.

5 /5 antony dahman: Live 10 mins from this place for 12 years & only spotted it a few weeks back in the middle of nowhere.Just visited for the 1st time. Beautiful surroundings, very friendly & efficient staff. It was good to see who I think was the owner walking around front of house talking to guests & making sure everyone was happy. I had roast topside of beef & it was cooked to perfection. Had a lovely pint of real ale (London Pride). Unfortunately due to unforeseen matters we only had time for a quick main meal & leave to get home. Was looking forward to staying for a couple hours & will definitely be back in future. 10/10

5 /5 Squashy: Amazing food and genuinely warm service. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and thanked properly on the way out, small touches that make a big difference. What really stood out was receiving a call two days beforehand to ask if I’d like to be moved into the main dining area. That level of thoughtfulness made it feel like the staff truly care about the experience. The Cajun fries are outstanding, easily some of the best I’ve had. If I had to be overly critical in my ongoing quest to find the best country pub in South East England, there wasn’t a roaring log fire and there wasn’t the obligatory solitary alky at the end of the bar sipping scotch… but aside from those romantic clichés, everything else was spot on.
