Ela Gorla Vel is one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton and one of the best South Indian restaurants I ever tried. I spent 5 months in South India in 2024 so when I moved to Brighton I was desperate to find a place where I could enjoy authentic South Indian food and I’m thrilled I discovered Vel. The food tastes exactly like the food I used to eat in India and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for true Indian flavours.

ALB DnB Absolutely amazing fish & chips, met with the most amazing smile & welcome from Pam, lovely chatting with you! My partner mentioned we were here for my 30th so she brought us out more food on the house! Fish was so fresh, crispy and piping hot! Frank Burke I don’t normally review restaurants, but felt compelled to share the wonderful experience we had at the Toby Carvery in Willingdon this afternoon. The food was perfect, fresh and tasted divine. But possibly what made the meal for me was the exceptional service I received from our server Adele who was friendly, courteous and undoubtedly the reason why we will be coming back soon. Thank you Toby and thank you Adele. Refreshing to see food and service like this in today’s world.

Julia Snodgrass An amazing meal after a long day of hiking! We were seated right away upstairs, our server was kind and welcoming, and the food arrived promptly. We shared the siu mai, chicken satay, lemongrass shrimp, and tom kha soup with mushrooms added. Each dish was more delicious than the last. So grateful to have stumbled upon this gem!

Sarah We had some really nice food here. Our starts were chicken satay and battered prawns, both were so good, the batter on the prawns tasted excellent and very fresh. I had hoisin duck with cashews for my main and it was great! The lady who served us was so polite and friendly as well. It was a weekday night and it wasn’t too busy, all our food was served in a timely manner.

Lloyd Thomas Very nice halal chicken sandwich and very good veggie fried breakfast. Mushrooms nice and crispy. Coffee (macchiato) was strong and bitter (like it often is in Italy, in a good way) with a fine crema. The lad who was serving was polite. Recommend this place for food and a cuppa.
