2 /5 Emma Holmwood: As it was my birthday I treated myself to beef in Malaysian Satay sauce (£10.50 in April 23 menu). Luckily my ageing belly cannot take a glutinous portion these days, the standard pot was only around 3/4 full. Most of the beef was super tender, however, if your gnashers are of delicate constitution or the thought of gristle zips your mouth shut then this dish isnt for you. I had three bites that even my indestructible shiny-whites couldnt breakthrough, leaving that awkward situation where you are waiting for everyone to be distracted so you discreetly pretend youre wiping your face while depositing said inedible food into napkin. I liked the pineapple but am still on the fence with cooked cucumber, not sure I appreciate the texture with the beef. The sauce was nice.
My rice was really yummy, not too dry, not soggy, tasty with nice ingredients added in and chopped to a nice size.
Along with a starter my order was nearly £25 for one, so definitely a birthday treat only on our budget. I would say the quality has gone down from a couple of years ago when it was exceptional.
We dont get to eat here much anymore, being a couple of miles out of town the terminated delivery service was quite a blow to a delicious meal after a busy day when were too tired to cook.
