1 /5 Kate Williams: I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years - so often I’ve honestly lost count. The pizza is consistently excellent, the service has always been warm, and on several occasions staff have even recognised me. It’s a place I’ve recommended to others and returned to time and time again.
Unfortunately, tonight’s experience was genuinely shocking and completely out of character.
We visited during the restaurant’s 5-year birthday promotion, where pizzas were 50% off. At no point during booking were we informed of a 75-minute time limit. We weren’t told on arrival, and nothing was mentioned during the meal either. The first time this “rule” was raised was as I was finishing my last slice, when a waitress came over (without any apology or politeness) and abruptly asked whether she should take the pizza away or give me a doggy bag because another booking was arriving in one minute.
About 30 seconds later, a different waitress came over and simply said, “We need the table.” No apology. No courtesy. No acknowledgment of how uncomfortable and rushed this felt.
I have genuinely never experienced such rude and poor service anywhere, let alone at a restaurant I’ve been loyal to for years.
I completely understand managing bookings during a busy promotion, but if there is a strict time limit, customers must be clearly informed in advance and treated with respect.
Treating paying, long-standing customers like an inconvenience at the very end of their meal is unacceptable.
It’s incredibly disappointing, and it will honestly take a lot for me to want to return after this experience. I really hope management reflects on whether cramming in extra bookings during a promotion is worth damaging their reputation and alienating loyal customers.
Very disappointing.
