Akasaka Korean BBQ & Japanese Restaurant - (Near Buckinghamshire, South East)

4 /5 Lena: Akasaka is a refined venue for enjoying sushi and a range of Japanese/Korean delicacies. The menu is thoughtfully curated and it is worth noting that Korean BBQ is also available, although I have not yet had the opportunity to try it. My absolute favourite is the eel and avocado sushi, which is exceptional. For anyone who appreciates eel, this is without question one of the best options available, well balanced and consistently satisfying. The atmosphere is pleasant and authentic, successfully evoking a sense of Japan and creating an enjoyable dining environment. However, the reason I have not awarded five stars relates to two recurring issues. Firstly, the service lacks consistency, which appears to be linked to a very high staff turnover. On each visit there are new members of staff and the level of attentiveness and familiarity varies noticeably. Secondly, the temperature inside the restaurant tends to be quite low, to the extent that after 30–40 minutes it becomes necessary to put on a jacket, which detracts from the overall comfort of the experience. Overall, Akasaka offers excellent food and a charming atmosphere and with more consistent service and improved temperature control, it would easily merit a full five-star rating.

5 /5 Kiran Balloo: Great atmosphere and an amazing dining experience! We opted for the grill-it-yourself option and chose the beef selection — definitely a great choice. All the meats were well-seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. Cooking everything right at the table made it interactive and fun. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I’d happily come back again. Highly recommend!

5 /5 Kathryn: Worth the wait as everything is made fresh with beautiful presentation. Soft shell crab was light, crispy and meaty. Yakitori (chicken skewers) were tender, with a rich and sticky glaze. Prawn udon, the prawns were juicy, with crunchy veggies, and bouncy, chewy noodles. The Eel teriyaki was flaky with plenty of sauce, and crispy beansprouts. And the Sushi assortment with thick cuts of salmon and tuna, and real wasabi was delicious. Our server was Rudolf, he was very patient with us and made sure we had a great experience.

5 /5 Zoë H: Had an amazing meal here - ordered beef bulgogi which was absolutely excellent, bibimbap and various sushi (eel/ salmon/ squid/ scallop) which was all tasty and plated very speedily. Thought the pricing was quite reasonable as well. Only complaint would be the amount of time it took to get a servers attention in an almost empty restaurant but once flagged down they were very prompt. Would definitely return
