Farmer J Russell Square - (Near Camden, South East)

3 /5 U V: I was not a big fan of Farmer J, there has been a lot of hype around this. I understand that some of the options are healthier than most fast food chains but didn’t enjoy the option I had. It was quite expensive and I was told after there is student discount but the screen didn’t offer me that and there was no code on UNiDAYS. I had the amba chicken and farmer grain, the chicken was meant to come with tahini and didn’t, it was too busy for me to attempt to mention this. I also had the season Mac and cheese which was pretty nice with truffle and mushroom. However the portion sizes fluctuate as mine was half the amount of my colleagues. I personally find it a bit weird that they serve alcohol from 9 at a ‘healthy’ food option. I tried the cookie and it smelt great but tasted like nothing. The date and toffee latte was really nice though! This is the only things I’d go back for.

They offer a wide variety of food prepared with fresh produce sourced from local vendors, and their coffee is ethically sourced and carefully extracted to create rich, flavorful blends. The shop is always spotless, and the staff are warm and welcoming, making every visit feel personal. It’s the perfect balance of the consistency you’d expect from a chain and the individuality of a neighborhood favorite.

4 /5 Sultan Wadud: This was my first time visiting Farmer J, and we chose it as the spot to welcome a couple of new staff members to the department with an informal team lunch. It turned out to be a great choice. The restaurant had a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere, was clean, and had a clear sense of character and uniqueness that makes it stand out from the usual chains. The menu offered a good range of options, from mains to salads, catering to different tastes and dietary needs, including some halal choices. The space itself felt open and inviting, with plenty of seating, which made it easy for a group like ours to enjoy a laid-back lunch together. I ordered one of the chicken dishes (can’t recall the exact name!) and was pleasantly surprised. The food was well cooked, full of flavour, and served in generous portions. What stood out most was the freshness, you could really taste the quality of the ingredients, and it felt like a genuinely healthy meal without compromising on flavour. Overall, it was a very good experience and I’d happily recommend Farmer J, especially this location. A great spot for a casual lunch with colleagues or friends, with wholesome food that doesn’t disappoint.

1 /5 Hey: Delivery order. This is what this place really thinks of you. This is supposed to feed a family of 4 in their Mix and Match Family Dinner. Most of the food bowls arrived on their sides. The chicken was missing. The delivery driver had to apologise on their behalf. The food was spilling out of the bowls and the bottom of the paper bag was soaked in oil. Some of the bowls were half empty.

5 /5 George Chalhoub: Second time here and just as good! I came about 30 minutes before closing and the staff were really accommodating. Tried the J’s Classic — balanced, fresh, and delicious. The freshness and flavour of their plates really stand out.
