Lantana Shoreditch - (Near City of London, South East)

4 /5 Alex Crisp: Had brunch at Lantana Shoreditch and the food was really good. I’d definitely recommend the crispy chicken pancakes – they’re fluffy, full of flavour, and the chilli maple syrup works perfectly with them. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a really pleasant atmosphere. We were able to choose between sitting inside or outside on a weekend without a reservation, which was great. Toilets were clean and they’ve got a proper accessible one too. Service was a bit mixed. Our first server was really kind and attentive, but she seemed to be in training and was replaced by the manager. From then on things weren’t as smooth – menus were given without the coffee list, and it felt like the menu and drinks weren’t explained very clearly. Prices are also on the high side – nearly £6 for orange juice and close to £20 for pancakes. The food is tasty, but it does feel quite expensive for what it is.

3 /5 Carl Mendes: Visited Lantana on Sunday 9 Nov at midday, specifically to try their acclaimed corn fritters—only to discover they’re weekday-only. No signage or online notice about this, which felt misleading given how prominently they’re featured in reviews. Service was warm and welcoming from start to finish—attentive, friendly, and quick to resolve issues like the halloumi swap. That said, the 13.5% service charge felt steep given the overall experience and inconsistency in the food. We tried: - Nasi Goreng (Pork Belly) – Outstanding. Rich, spicy, and well-balanced. - Nasi Goreng (Chicken) – Disappointingly bland in comparison. - French Toast with Chicken – Overly sweet and the chicken was average. - Smashed Avo with Salmon – Salmon portion was generous, but the dish felt flat. - Grilled Halloumi (side) – Initially thick and ungrilled, but quickly replaced with a slimmer, properly grilled portion—handled smoothly. - Oat Flat Whites & Lattes – Decent. - Matcha Latte – Forgettable. Overall, the food was hit-and-miss. At this price point, I expected more consistency and clarity—especially around menu availability. The warm service was a highlight, but the high service charge and uneven dishes make me hesitant to return.

2 /5 KT: Famously, there is no shortage of places to get wildly overpriced brunch in Shoreditch. I am genuinely baffled that this one is still standing when a lot of the others are at least serving good food. The menu has one marked vegan option (avocado toast, groundbreaking!), despite a few more showing on Google. Sad to see inclusive options removed. I’ve lived in the area for a while now but £18 +13.5% for one single slice of bread with avocado and mushrooms was still enough to humble me. I am British (unfortunately), so staff would have to be actively hateful before I’d ask for an optional service charge to be taken off, but the service charge here being higher than average was hard to justify. Staff were nice enough but we were waiting around a lot and no one was particularly knowledgeable when there was an issue with our bill at the end. Walk literally 60 seconds in any direction and you will trip over somewhere better. Or stay here, if you want to spend a lot of money on bland food.

5 /5 Paul: Interesting and different food which is full of flavour and works. A lot more than just eggs and smashed avocado for brunch. Took teenagers and they loved it. Reasonable value, but you pay for what you get! It takes a typical Australian brunch to a higher level!

5 /5 Hannah Copsey: The team were so lovely and looked after our large party so well. I am vegan and coeliac was able to eat the poke bowl which was nice.
