5 /5 J Tashi “TJ”: I stumbled upon Mimi’s Kitchen Eat-In and Takeaway for a late lunch, and I’m so glad I did. The food selection was impressive—fresh, well displayed, and ready to go. I had the Jollof rice (absolutely divine) and the “fish platter”, which was perfectly seasoned and sweet, tender plantain. I also tried a bit of my friend’s moinmoin and it was DELICIOUS. (I literally want it right now.) The customer service was lovely too—the server was kind & mindful when my friend asked if the Jollof and moinmoin had been cooked with any meat, as she’s veggie. It’s always appreciated when staff are considerate about dietary requirements. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to make the drink options and their prices a little easier to view—it would make adding a drink to your meal a bit more effortless. But honestly, that’s the only (tiny) thing. All in all, a perfect lunch find!

5 /5 Chukwuebuka Obi-Unamma: I had a great experience at Mimis Place. The food was absolutely amazing as always, rich flavours, well-seasoned, and clearly cooked with care. You can really taste the authenticity in every bite. A big shout out to Sarah, who truly stood out. She’s a perfect example of how customer service doesn’t have to be complicated just genuine, friendly, and attentive. She made the experience even better (good choice of music) and is a real asset to the business.

4 /5 R I: I’m not Nigerian, so I can’t really speak on the authenticity. However, I can speak as someone who enjoys good food. I have tried a couple of Nigerian places before, and none of them had the same quality or taste. Cons: the staff can be a bit inattentive (for example, when ordering takeaway in the restaurant, they can give the wrong order, like ordering assorted fish efo riro but receiving assorted meat instead and discovering it only when get home). Again, I wouldn’t mind, as I love their food regardless. However, their service could be much improved, along with their delivery times—it takes forever to order from Deliveroo sometimes! Other than that, I’ve been their regular customer for the past few years and love the food which I most certainly recommend. Just double check your food order is correct when getting a takeaway :)

1 /5 Richard Parsons: I feel completely ripped off, to be honest. I ordered white rice with ayamase stew, expecting a proper meal with the right cuts of meat. Instead, there wasn’t a single piece of beef in the stew—just a load of inedible cow foot, an egg, and some other unrecognizable meat that I had no interest in eating. The portion of rice itself was fine, but it was served on a ridiculously tiny plate, so a lot of it kept falling off, making it difficult to eat properly. The fish was okay, but it was way too salty. Considering I paid £17 for this, I expected much better quality and presentation. Instead, I ended up leaving most of the food untouched. This was a complete waste of money, and I will definitely not be coming back!

1 /5 Vikki Abbey: Disappointing Experience at Mimi Kitchen I recently hosted a small surprise birthday at Mimi Kitchen, and the experience was disappointing in several key areas: - Booking, charges and payment: Non-refundable charges for the space moved from £100 to £200 ; charged on the event day and pressure to pay £200, ultimately settled at £150 after negotiation; terms unclear. - - Food and drinks: Venue-provided offerings were oily and did not meet expectations; personal orders were not adequately accommodated. - - Service and management: Poor service and lack of clear policies; guests were hurried out without proper notice. - - Pricing and communications: Inconsistent communications about pricing; drink prices changed after 7:00 PM as billed. - - Safety and conduct: Unprofessional behaviour and inappropriate language from owners and his wife raised health and safety concerns. Event details: Total billed near £2,000 for under four hours; the manager effectively handled some issues, but overall experience suffered. The owners’ rude, unprofessional conduct using F language. significantly detracted from the celebration.
