oliwia ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Open Bakery is, without exaggeration, the best bakery I have ever been to in the UK and I genuinely don’t think anything will ever come close. I lived in Brighton for a year and I was literally living right in front of it, in a flat across the street. It became part of my week and I still think about it all the time. The pastries are so unreal that I don’t even have a single photo… because the second I walked in, I couldn’t even consider taking my phone out. Everything was eaten immediately. That’s how good it was. The atmosphere inside is perfect, warm, cosy, inviting, and just the kind of place that instantly makes you happy. And the staff are genuinely some of the friendliest people ever. It’s not just a bakery, it feels like a little Brighton treasure. They have incredible bread and so many other bakes, but I have to mention my favourite pastry of all time: the chocolate and almond croissant. I am not joking when I say I still dream about it. Flaky, rich, indulgent, perfect in every possible way. I would travel back to Brighton purely to eat it again. I live in the North now, and I swear there is simply nothing up here that compares. And honestly… if Open Bakery would ever ship so far, I will be the first person placing an order 100%! Brighton people don’t realise how lucky they are.

Luc I’m not sure what planet these people who left the 1 star reviews are on but this was one of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve eaten at. The chicken chow mein, veggie spring rolls and special fried rice were great, nothing special but definitely got the job done. The real stars were the salt and pepper squid and Szechuan chicken, hands down the best I’ve had. The squid had great texture and balance of seasoning, not to mention the perfectly diced onions and chilli’s(many places give you huge pieces!) The Szechuan chicken easily the best takeaway Szechuan in the city, proper spice level good amount of chilli’s, sauce, perfect sized chicken and veggies and great selection of veggies too. The young lady who served me was really polite, patient and overall nice. Definitely going back!

Bryn Glew My son decided to pick this place after asking him where he would like to eat? I am soo glad it picked here, we arrived on a Saturday evening though it was busy due to due the airshow, the staff manage to get us seated. The members of staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing, everything was done fresh and on point. Really good for a family of 3. We will definitely be returning next year for another go. Ela Gorla Vel is one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton and one of the best South Indian restaurants I ever tried. I spent 5 months in South India in 2024 so when I moved to Brighton I was desperate to find a place where I could enjoy authentic South Indian food and I’m thrilled I discovered Vel. The food tastes exactly like the food I used to eat in India and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for true Indian flavours.
