2 /5 Philippa Cherry: Having been before to the Northstar on several occasions once having had a good meal and another time a mediocre meal of extremely greasy fish and chips. We thought we would try again today. The gammon steak and chips were fine although the gammon steak was thin. However, the cauliflower curry which was described as being sweet and mild on the menu turned out to be hot and spicy. My daughter who was with me and eats hotter curry’s than I do tried a couple of chilies and said it was quite hot! After tasting it, I had to give it back as it burnt my mouth. The staff were quite happy to change it for something else. I chose soup and they brought a very small shallow bowl of salty leek and potato soup With a piece of sliced bread. Needless to say, I was unimpressed, however, I decided not to complain as they had been reasonable about changing the curry. We each had Eton mess after which was fine. With one coffee and one glass of beer, I think the £45 bill was a lot considering what we had and my dissatisfaction. The staff were lovely.
