Rebecca Wilks What a special gem of a place this is! We walked in, and they happily squeezed us in with our toddler. The food was superb, so tasty and fast. And the best thing, was that our fussy toddler absolutely loved the tomato pasta, it kept her quiet for ages. Atmosphere and decor is really lovely. We cant wait to come back, and come with family at some point! Thanks again

Paolo Donaldson We ate here during a quiet lunchtime. They serve Harvey’s which is a perfect brew with which to enjoy the superb curries on offer here. The soft shell crab starter was nice, but the batter is a little too heavy for such a delicate meat. The Tandoori Mixed Grill is superb. Nicely cooked and a very good portion. The Chicken Malabar was divine. Creamy and yet sour with a nice chilli heat in the mouth. The Sag Paneer was delicious. Perfect. The service was very attentive, but it was a very quiet lunchtime, like I said. Thoroughly recommended.

j Reviewing the cafe: loved it. We were actually looking at the menu in the window of a different cafe, when we fell into conversation with a woman, and she recommended Crates to us. So thank you, whoever you were. It’s a quaint and cosy little establishment. They do the sort of things that you might expect a corner cafe to do; but they also sprinkle in some interesting little treats. They also strongly favour local produce. I had a jacket potato with locally sourced crab and prawns - delicious and not something that you often see. Good coffee, good service, good value. Thinking through what I would normally include in a review of a cafe: there are a lot of vegetarian options on the menu; there isn’t really a children’s menu (but there is a doggy menu); and there are steps into the cafe (but level access to the outdoor tables).

Sergei Semjonov Had most amazing lamb rice dish ever. The lamb rice was incredible—tender, flavorful lamb paired perfectly with fluffy, aromatic rice. Every bite was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Friendly and helpful service complementing outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended.

Stu Brilliant service Ellie was amazing we went on the 13/11/25 at 14:30 she really looked after us and the service was very efficient and informative. My wife went to order chicken tacos & Ellie asked if she understood it was vegetarian which she hadn’t appreciated so changed her order. Good customer intelligence and exceptional attention to our needs. My steak was cooked perfectly My wife had a chicken burger and it was brilliant. The salad bar was great as-well. We didn’t have any room for pudding as main meal portion size was generous. Thankyou a lovely meal we will be back again. Service
