5 /5 Gosia Śka: This place is always a delight! (This was not our first visit to The Rising Sun). Dinner for 3 with food and wine. Our dishes tasted amazing. Everything was hot, nicely presented and well seasoned. The service was very friendly and professional. Lana, who looked after our table was very kind and cheerful. The ambience was warm and welcoming. Thank you ❤️

5 /5 Cam: AMAZING! Visited Reading and dropped in on a whim for Sunday lunch—so glad we did. The roast was absolutely stunning, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Dessert was equally delicious. Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a laid-back Sunday. Highly recommend!

5 /5 CHELS C: Came here for lunch on Saturday as a group of six. Food was genuinely impressive thanks to the extensive menus. Top tier service, too - we especially appreciated Emma given it was her first day on the job. Two of us had allergies and those requests were meticulously noted and catered for. Many thanks for taking care of our group and we will come back again!

5 /5 Daniel Ali: I cant believe what theyve done with this place, the oldest pub in Reading (about 800 years old if Im not mistaken). It used to be a nice classic sports bar but now its simply one of the best gastropubs in town and surrounding area. Everything was cooked to perfection; excellent quality ingredients and delicious deserts. Good selection of beers, including three real ales on cask. The service was simply perfect, quick and professional. Special thanks to Lana. Fantastic place. I can predict that we will be back soon, and very often!

5 /5 Allan: I cant believe what theyve done with this place! The Rising Sun is Readings oldest pub, and the multi-million pound renovation by Heartwood has turned it into something truly special . It used to be a classic sports bar, but now its simply one of the best gastropubs in town . The interior is beautiful – cosy snugs, fireplaces, and a stunning vaulted ceiling dining room where the old stables used to be. The garden out back is a total showstopper, with heated booths, a shepherds hut bar, and a heated canopy – perfect even on a chilly evening . The food is incredible. Everything was cooked to perfection with excellent quality ingredients . We popped in for Sunday lunch on a whim, and the roast was absolutely stunning – perfectly cooked and full of flavour . The desserts are delicious too . They have a great selection of beers, including three real ales on cask. The service was simply perfect – quick, professional, and genuinely friendly. A special shout-out to Lana, who looked after our table with such kindness and cheerfulness . She was attentive without being intrusive . The whole team was polite and professional . This place is a delight – well definitely be back soon and very often!
