What Clients Are Saying East African Restaurant (GG)
5 /5 Jacob: Brilliant little spot with amazing prices and food. The service is friendly and welcoming and makes you feel like youre in a family restaurant. The food is delicious with a great spice and a unique flavour you cant find anywhere else in Portsmouth. I have been here twice now and enjoyed both the key tibs and doro wot and I look forward to trying their wide range of vegetarian dishes too. The juices they stock are also great pairings with the food and are sold at supermarket price. Everyone should try this quaint little restaurant.
4 /5 Mike Chamberlain: Understated but impressive eatery in the north of Portsmouth. Not gourmet, but hearty, homely food packed with satisfying flavours for a reasonable price. I had a tasty lamb dish served with injera, which arrived in a mesob (woven basket) - a nice touch!
Lamb dish + lots of injera + two drinks came to less than ÂŁ20 - excellent value. Whilst I noted an impressive array of veggie/vegan dishes on the menu, no starters or dessert are offered.
1 /5 Albion 1: I ordered takeaway, so it might be better in person. I ordered the white tibs and received bland, tough chunks of lamb in an equally bland sauce. The injera was passable but more intensely sour than others Ive had before, and the beans I ordered as a side were the only decent part of the meal. Probably wont be ordering again, at least not to take away.
5 /5 Lou Davies: Walked past a few times and decided to give this a try. Never had Ethiopian food before, this not only tasted amazing but was great quality too. Staff was friendly and the place has a lovely ambience. Ill definitely be back to try some more of the menu.
5 /5 Dan Chan: This is such a hidden gem of a restaurant, we came mid afternoon and our meal was amazing. The beers came recommended and were great, the food was amazing and incredibly affordable, it worked out to be about ÂŁ20 per person and we were stuffed afterwards.
I would wholeheartedly recommend coming to anyone. Great food.
Saboh Ndomi Food was absolutely delicious, staffs very, very friendly and welcoming .
Great location, atmosphere was peaceful, calm and very nice ,quiet and clean.
Service was great, and before we knew it, food was served!
Tina Thompson By far the nicest kebab in Portsmouth and the staff are so lovely and friendly. I’m an extremely fussy eater who had special instructions and the staff even called to check what I ordered was intact what I wanted.
The food itself was 10/10 - the flavour of the Shawarma was unreal.
Peter Hughes I went with five other people from our Healthy Walkers group and we were all impressed with the environment and services.
It soon had more people coming in so it is obviously a popular place to choose for a snack, drink or something more substantial. All six of us said that well be back.
E M Always a lovely experience dining here. Staff are friendly, polite, and make really good food. Could do with some more exciting vegetarian options but the ones they have are tasty and fairly priced.
