5 /5 hannah cheung: Had a lovely dinner at Maggie Jones’s.
The atmosphere is incredibly cosy – candlelight, wooden interiors, and that old-school London charm you don’t find very often anymore. It feels like stepping into someone’s country house rather than a typical restaurant.
We ordered Maggie’s fish pie, rump steak & chips, and the cheese and leek tart as part of the set menu.
The fish pie was comforting and well-balanced, with a creamy sauce and perfectly baked mashed potato on top. The steak was cooked nicely (medium rare) and the chips were classic and satisfying. The cheese and leek tart was rich but not too heavy – a great starter.
For dessert, the apple crumble was warm and homely, especially with custard.
No gimmicks, no over-complicated plating – just honest, traditional British food done properly.
Would definitely come back for another cosy evening.
