5 /5 MADDOGLEP: I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harveys Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.

5 /5 Dave Peadon: Came here for a meal after a walk around Lewes. It is a lovely pub with a very traditional feel and theme. The service was excellent and very friendly. The menu is really good with lots of choices. We went for the Tapas and enjoyed very much, excellent quality and very tasty.
