New Dewaniam - (Near Southwark, South East)

3 /5 Amy: Decent overall. The peshwari naan was really good and the chicken korma had a nice flavourful sauce. Unfortunately the chicken was pretty overcooked, which kind of overshadowed everything else. It was still edible and tasty but not good enough for me to risk ordering and getting dry chicken again.

I was about to leave an angry review about my undelivered food when I discovered the real culprits: my phone carrier hasn’t been accepting calls (on top of the fact that my buzzer doesn’t work). The restaurant had actually been trying to reach me the whole time. They were incredibly gracious about the mix-up and even agreed to redeliver. (Although the delivery guy’s expression was a little grumpy but I would definitely be too in his shoes) I’m writing this review with more than a little embarrassment, but also genuine appreciation for their kindness. Now for the food—it’s very good! I’ve ordered twice now and have been happy both times. The portions are good for the price, and the quality is consistent so far. Their Onion Bhaji deserves special mention: it’s enormous and absolutely delicious. Even after delivery, it arrives surprisingly crispy. I can only imagine how spectacular it must be fresh from the kitchen.

1 /5 Lizetta Lyster: It takes a lot to give a one star review but tonight’s experience was awful. Had to wait ages to even order drinks and when food eventually came, after waiting 1.5 hours - with no apology or explanation for the delay - it was cold, things we hadn’t ordered came when things we had didn’t. The staff didn’t even know what the dishes were they had brought to our table. Constant smirk on the main waiter’s face when we complained and they clearly had no interest in fixing any of the issues and offered a joke of a discount. I’ve eaten here numerous times in the past - food has always been ok even if the service has been a little lacking - but tonight was utterly shocking and not what I would expect from any restaurant.

1 /5 Dani Fletcher: Had to wait over two hours for food. Was misled about when the food would be delivered. No apology or compensation offered. Was fobbed off on the phone about being busy...not too busy to take the order or our money. Food was barely warm when it arrived. An apology or some refund would have been in order.

2 /5 Yasmin Kane: I ordered the Dewaniam choice meal off of ubereats and although I think it is fairly priced, considering you get quite a lot of things … unfortunately the food wasn’t so great. The mushroom fried rice and onion bhajis were fine. The lamb curry had nice flavour but the meat was tough and chewy which made it difficult to enjoy. Paneer butter masala just wasn’t so nice either nor was the peshwari naan.
