The Swan, Ascott-under-Wychwood Cotswolds - (Near Oxfordshire, South East)

3 /5 L Powell: We stayed 1 night as part of a birthday surprise. We booked room Cygnet, which is their master suite. Upon arriving at The Swan it wasnt clear who to speak to regarding check-in, turns out its just anybody at the bar. Check in was swift but random and not all informative. The room itself was large and nicely decorated, and the bathroom was of an extremely generous size, however 2 bulbs in the bathroom were out- Staff should check and replace before guests arrive. They didnt provide 2 bathrobes, (only one even though we were a couple staying in the room), so we had to call and ask for another, which never arrived, so again we had to chase up. Given the room was over three hundred for one night i would have expected more amenities, such as shower caps and cotton pads in the bathroom, a mini fridge (rather than just kettle/Nespresso and long life milk). The bed felt flimsy and the duvet was so thin it was very cold at night, there were no extra blankets we could use. Only one mirror in the bathroom, no full-length mirror anywhere and no mirror next to a plug for drying hair, etc. Poor design, it lacked thinking. Unfortunately also as mentioned a few times on here, the walls of the room were also very thin, we could hear everything from the next room and the outside noise, which is not good for light sleepers or for just a tranquil stay. The positives were that the room was nicely decorated and large, the cooked breakfast was good, the seating by the fire was cosy, and the male Irish member of staff was very friendly and nice. But postivies aside i would not stay here again. Far better in the local area for the same or cheaper.

5 /5 Jessica Summers: I love The Swan. Ive stayed here twice now and its such a gem in the Cotswolds. Wonderful service, beautiful rooms, great food, cosy fires, and characterful, tasteful furnishings throughout. Little touches like being kindly upgraded to a room with a bath because it was quiet, reserving the best table for the live music even though I was on my own & other examples of going the extra mile makes this place really feel special on top of all its other obvious charms. I cant wait to find another excuse to return.

4 /5 Victoria: This was our sixth visit to the hotel. Having got engaged here in 2022, it felt like the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We continue to love the cosy bedrooms and welcoming restaurant areas. There was a small hiccup on this visit as the chef did not turn up on Saturday evening so we ended up dining at The Chequers, their sister restaurant which was really nice although unexpected!

5 /5 Amy C: We recently spent five nights at The Swan. It’s our third visit and we love the location, ambience, food and service. Dany, Emma and the team could not be more friendly and helpful. We took most of our meals onsite, and loved the food - from the delicious wood-fired pizzas, to the confit duck, soup, and pies. Breakfast is simple but good and the continental option is included in the room price. We stayed in one of the newer rooms behind the pub, and were pleasantly surprised to find a tiny but well-equipped kitchenette behind what we thought was a closet door! It was nice to be able to make coffee and tea (supplied by the inn), and to have a small refrigerator available for drinks. The room is quite comfortable and the fixtures in the bathroom are very nigh end. We will definitely return and highly recommend The Swan for a quiet relaxing getaway.

5 /5 Aaron Mansilla: Went for Sunday roast with my partner and we were really impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, but what made the experience even better was the service. Dany was incredibly attentive, friendly and genuinely welcoming — he made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Thanks to the warm atmosphere, great service and excellent food, we would happily come back. Highly recommended!!! Grazie mille
