5 /5 Andy Bee: Last Friday we visited Spring at Somerset House.
Before I review the restaurant itself Id just like to say how brilliant Mark (one of the security guards at Somerset House) was. We asked him for directions to Spring and not only did he escort us down there, but on the way he gave us a load of history about the building on the way. A real credit to his employer.
Back to the restaurant itself, Spring offers a scratch menu which uses the food that would have been discarded and turns it into fine dining, which we chose. It was wonderful, like somebody had taken the concept of Bubble and Squeak and pushed it to the ultimate level using every type of food. That doesnt do it justice, but Im sure you get the idea. Everything we ate was fabulous, the staff were attentive without ever being intrusive, the wine was gorgeous and the entire experience was perfectly executed.
There is, of course, an a la carte menu for those not fancying the scratch.
Great food, lovely wine, wonderful staff inside and out. 100% recommended.
