2 /5 Ruchi Basu: We returned to Ciao Italia yesterday after having such a lovely experience on our previous visit, so it’s disappointing to say this visit fell well below expectations.
On arrival, there was no one to greet us at the door. I had specifically requested comfortable seating when booking, yet we were abruptly told to sit at a different table that wasn’t even set up for the number of guests in our party. After some back and forth, we were eventually seated where we had asked — but not without unnecessary argument. The tone and manner in which this was handled were not appropriate. Staff should know how to speak to customers respectfully.
While the food quality itself remains good, the overall service was disorganised. The pâté arrived without the onions and we had to ask for them. My mum’s tea was forgotten. I requested two separate scoops of gelato and they were served together. Individually these might seem minor, but collectively it felt chaotic and poorly managed.
There was an event taking place and it was clear the team were overwhelmed and under-resourced. Unfortunately, that shouldn’t translate into a poor experience for paying customers.
We left feeling disappointed, which is frustrating given how much we enjoyed our previous visit. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and acted upon.
