5 /5 GratefulOne1: My my my … everything you ever wanted in a restaurant in one place! My fav so far in ask of East Sussex! Decor, service, atmosphere, food, uniqueness…. Menu is international, vegan, vegetarian… anything you want! A MUST.
4 /5 Scott B: Been here a few times, my go to place whenever I’m in Lewes. This visit was for lunch. We had to wait 5 - 10 mins for a table as we didn’t book. The food was delicious and service friendly and efficient. There is a great variety of food to choose from including an extensive gluten free and vegan menu. I really like the shabby chic decor which brings a nice cosy feeling to the place. I would say that during busy times it’s very noisy so can be difficult to have a conversation if you’re in the middle of the restaurant, this doesn’t put me off and it shouldn’t you either!
4 /5 Nige F: A wide ranging menu of good quality food and drinks.
A good atmosphere with friendly service as well.
The weird bit is that you have to decide on whether youre paying a tip at the beginning when you order. Just seems stupid to me and must stop a lot of tips being given. How can I decide if I want to add 10% or more before I have had any form of service, or tasted my food and drink?!?
3 /5 Jen S: We didn’t have a booking and the restaurant worked hard to seat us. That was very kind!
Sadly the food and service was mediocre. I had the lounge burger and the beef patty was stodgy. When I ordered I accidentally chose no tomato and when I told the server, they didn’t offer to get me a slice of tomato.
We didn’t get smiles during our service. We had to flag down the servers.
Payment is taken when you order including tip. since I had already tipped when I ordered the food, they were not incentivised to provide good service.
5 /5 Jim Greensted: Had an early evening meal here, took advantage of the Tuesday offer on the tapas. Great welcome from the staff, tried ordering through the app but kept showing full price so ordered at the bar
Food was good although the King prawns were anything but King
Amanda Lucy Eaten here more than once now and the food and service has always been spot on. The roast on a Sunday is a particular highlight with the meat and veg being cooked to perfection!
Linda Mears This is a quirky little pub. So much to feast your eyes on inside! Food is very good, service and atmosphere is first class. The Snowdrop is only open from Thursday to Sunday. Check their website before visiting. But it is certainly worth a visit.
Dominic Fountaine This is by far the best and most authentic Thai food I have experienced in the UK!
My wife is half Thai and has lived there and even she was amazed at some of the dishes available here that we havent found anywhere else except Thailand itself.
Its a BYOB, which we didnt mind at all. There is a corkage fee but it wasnt over the top by any means.
The staff were lovely and were very quick to accommodate anything we asked for, including things like providing small bowls so we could share a larger soup like a starter and other random requests.
If you are a fan of Asian food or especially Thai food and can get over to this restaurant I cannot recommend it enough! The venue is small, however, so its best to book in advance as theres no guarantee you could get a table otherwise.
Caroline Pepper Tom our waiter, was wonderful right from the initial greeting. We came for lunch with our baby, & our friends with two small kids also joined us. Tom was really thoughtful re the childrens needs, e.g. high chairs, offered to put pram in a safe place, he was just very warm & kind, and patient! Also - food was Delicious, recommend the calzone campagna. Grazie a tutti. Will be back!
Anon Most of the food was exceptional. For me the stew was lacking flavour and the banana cake not indulgent, but the kimchi bimbap with ‘bacon’ fried rice (gorgeous), sesame cream latte (to DIE for), breakfast ‘army style’ beans (flawless)!
Go, eat, enjoy.
